Sook Ching is a word in Chinese. The translation of 'Sook Ching' is a purge through cleansing. It took place from 18 FEBRUARY 1942 TILL 4 MARCH 1942. This was to get rid of anti-Japanese element. Singapore was then seperated into different sections, each of them in charge by a Kempeitai Officer. Sook Ching was carried in many places and one of them was PUNGGOL BEACH. The 'screening centres' were established all over Singapore. The chinese ethnic are loyal to United Kingdoms and China. They 'examine' the chinese men aged 18 to 50. Some other targeted men are those with tattoos as they though they were from the members of secret societies. Those who passed the screening would be given a slip of paper with the word EXAMINE or either a chop at their hands. Those who did not passed the screening would be given a triangular stamp. They would be sent by a truck to remote places like Changi or Punggol where they would be EXECUTED, THROWN OFF BY BOATS TO BE DROWNED, STABBED, SHOT TO DEATH OR TORTURED.
